The Del City church started in 1951 as a mission project of the Marshall Street congregation in Midwest City.  At the time the decision was made to begin a new church, 70 members were identified as living in the Del City area.  The first building was completed on December 30, 1951, and had a charter membership of 130 members.  The church building had a small auditorium, five classrooms, a tiny nursery and a minister’s study.  The first expansion to the facilities was completed in early 1953.  That expansion included adding six classrooms, a vestibule, office and doubling the nursery.

Another expansion project was completed in 1954 with five more rooms added and three other rooms enlarged.  Air-conditioning for most of the church building was also added.  This brought a total of 15 classrooms available for Bible classes for all ages.  No fellowship hall existed, yet Del City Junior-Senior High School provided its cafeteria for dinners and other events.  Resident membership numbered 260, with an average attendance of 300.

In January 1955, it was determined by the preacher and the elders that “even though the church facilities are adequate now, they will probably be filled by this summer at the present rate of growth.”

"It will give us another problem, but that’s the kind of problem we like.”

The auditorium was located where the current foyer/lobby area is at, without the offices and classrooms on either side.  The auditorium could seat 600 when full.   There was only the one building at that time.  But the thought of the elders was “to have room to grow.”  Continued growth was experienced as well as a vision for the future.  In 1970, the current auditorium was constructed and able to seat over 1000.

The Family Life Center and Bus Barn were built in 1976.

The Worship Center and Family Life Center were extensively remodeled in 1994, resulting in the present look and appeal that we enjoy each time we gather together at these places.   The latest renovation that has happened was in 2001, resulting in the Chapel being constructed.
